Iwami
Toshio Gensho
In 1979,
Iwami Toshio enters the Hyoho Niten Ichi-ryu dojo of Imai-soke,
thanks to the recommendation of Miyamoto Nobuo, the 13th generation
descendant of Miyamoto Iori, son of Miyamoto Musashi.
In 2001,
Iwami-soke is given Menkyo Kaiden (certificate of full transmission
of teachings) by Imai-soke. This is the highest level of ability
in the ryu, and confers that all teachings have been passed to
him.
In 2003,
he is named by Imai-soke as 11th headmaster of Hyoho Niten Ichi-ryu.
Today, he
works tirelessly to improve his understanding of the swordsmanship
of Miyamoto Musashi and to the development of his students, both
at hombu in Kokura, Kyushu and those abroad who practice Hyoho
Niten Ichi-ryu.
